Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Two weeks. Just TWO weeks into a new year and already so many people are weary. We are weary of the cold, weary of the shorter days and longer nights, weary of ice and lack of open windows. Many of us find ourselves literally counting the days until Springtime. For others, the weather may be cooperating, but January is still a dreary time of year in our spirits. In two short weeks we have gone from the high of the holiday festivities to the blahs of the middle of winter. Now for the good news!
The Springtime comes. And not just according to the outside thermometers, but also according to our mindset, and a sense of joy and anticipation that quickens in our spirits. 2017 ended on a rough note for many of us. We were glad to bid the past year goodbye, and turn our faces toward 2018. But, in our humanity, that gladness was short-lived. We are human, and at times, we are weak. We crave and strive to find the next good thing to focus on. And that is not a bad way to be! But it is if it becomes the sole reason for our joy. In that case, it becomes a trap rather than a treasure.
Today's Scripture is my favorite. But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. It does not say that those who hope in Spring or lack of snow will renew their strength. We are promised we will soar. We will not fly low, nor will we helplessly flap our wings, but go nowhere. We will run. Not limp, nor will we stumble along. We will run. Not grow weary. Walk. Not be faint. We will have strength.
Our strength and encouragement are not dependent upon any external factors. In fact, many times good things can hinder us, because we put our trust in them, rather than in God. We don't do it on purpose; it can just kind of happen occasionally.
Our band has a lot of great things coming up, as most of you know. We just announced we will be back at SoulFest this coming summer, and are thrilled to be welcomed back! But we, too are human and have struggles with seasons of cold. Whether due to temperature or just seasons of life that are cold and dark, we walk with you all and understand the challenges. We have been striving for awhile to grow our band and our brand. And God is answering. He will also answer YOU. Perhaps not today, or maybe not in the actual way you are hoping, but be encouraged; His answers are always in our best interest, and propel us further than our greatest dreams could take us.
Stay in the word of God, stay close to Him and you will be just fine. Be encouraged that He has got you, and won't ever let you go. Winter will go, and quickly so, and with it will come the warmth and sunshine of a beautiful Spring. New birth, new life, new growth. Not only in your life, but in your heart as well.
Stay strong and stay close to Him and He will fulfill the promise above. Check out our upcoming events, and please note we are adding new ones, and making new announcements all the time! Be blessed this week, and bless others with encouragement as well.
