1 Praise the LORD.Praise God in his sanctuary;praise him in his mighty heavens.2 Praise him for his acts of power;praise him for his surpassing greatness.3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.Praise the LORD.Why We Sing, Why We Worship
Psalm 150 is rich with descriptive verses of why we sing, and make music to our God. But it goes further. Much further.
We are to praise the Lord. Praise means to express our approval and admiration. If we know that God is good, (and He is), and we know that He loves us and wants our best (and He does), and His eye is always upon us, (and it is), then we know that everything He does has purpose and focus. Nothing is random with our God. He does not NEED our praise to exist. Although our finite minds cannot comprehend, He has always existed, and He always will. He was God long before we were ever created. So clearly His power and glorious ways are independent of our praise.
This knowledge leads us to understand that we praise Him for many reasons. First and foremost, because He deserves it, and no other One does. He is glorious, powerful and loving. He and He alone is worthy to be praised. We, His created beings, honor Him and His place of authority when we praise and worship Him. As it should be. Praise allows us to enter into His courts, and fills a need in us. It brings us further into prayer and into relationship with Him. As with everything He does, it ends up being for our benefit when we praise Him. To be sure, He is worthy of this praise and honor, but due to His endless love, it ends up benefiting us when we rightfully worship and praise Him.
We are told here to praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary, praise Him in His mighty heavens, praise Him for His acts of power, praise Him for His surpassing greatness. PRAISE Him in all ways, and praise Him always! Essentially, praising and honoring him become a way of life, and a state of being. That is our goal. To be (and remain) in such closeness and fellowship with Him that we cannot help but return to Him the honor and glory He is due.
As a band, we are given the gifts of being able to do this not only verbally, but through song and through music. With all of our instruments, and many more He has listed. What a gift! To be able to share with you, and spend our time doing what He has commanded us to do, and being the recipients of His love and fellowship when we do it! Through our music, through our songs, and through the testimony of our lives.
We are Right Hand Shade. God is glorified; we are not. God is the giver of all of the blessings bestowed upon us, and we are the unworthy (yet made worthy through Him) recipients of all of those good gifts. We gratefully receive all He has for us, and praise Him. And most importantly, even if He chose to take away our voices, and to silence our songs, we will still praise him, always and in all ways. With music or without music, it matters not. But we are surely grateful He has allowed us to express our praise and worship through our music!
We love God. First and foremost, we love God. We also love our families, our friends, and our fans. And if we ceased to exist, as a band, we still will praise Him, and worship Him, and serve Him. We are Right Hand Shade, and we love the Lord.
Please join us in renewing our commitment to praise Him, to honor Him, and to worship Him with our lives, our voices, our words, and our actions. You, and we, are protected and kept close and safe by the shade at His right hand. It is our honor to be able to thank Him for this protection and love.
God bless you this week; please check our events page to see what is happening. We will be in Maine this weekend, and also Massachusetts! Stay tuned for other exciting announcements and events coming up. We are thankful to Him for so many wonderful things happening with our band and our music, but it is not about His blessings. It is about HIM. We hope you will join us in praising Him in your lives and your circumstances today and every day. Be blessed this week! If we can pray for you, or if you have a praise of something He has done in your life, connect with us via our Facebook page, or the website. We'd love to hear what He is up to!
