The Importance of Integrity

November 2, 2017

Integrity has two equally important meanings.  One is:  the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.  The second is:  the state of being whole and undivided.

When looking at these two meanings, we can readily understand the first.  But the second is a bit more difficult to apply to daily life.  Integrity is a state of being whole and undivided.  This implies it is a way of life.  A state of being.  Not a momentary application, but how we live and respond in each situation.

As a band, we are grateful to God for the gifts He has given us.  Not only musical gifts, but the deeper ones.  When in relationship with the Lord, we begin to learn from Him, and to apply His principles and His ethics to our lives, and to our music.  We understand strongly that every lyric we write, and every song we perform, must glorify Him.  It is not about the sale of music, nor is it about the popularity of the moment.  God's word remains unchanged.  We can never operate without integrity as the primary ingredient in our music and in our lives.  Thank God we have the collective energy and intelligence He has blessed us with, but as Buffet observed, if we don't have integrity, the very gifts given, of intelligence and energy, will destroy us.  Without God, and without the understanding of the responsibility we carry as people in the public eye, we let integrity fall away.  It is only by remaining in Him, and abiding in Him, that we can abide in a state of being whole and undivided.  The very nature of the music business fights against this, and it becomes more critical that we remain intentional with our integrity.  It is more than just a statement.  It is a promise to you, our fans and supporters.  We seek to honor God in our music and in our lives.  And while Buffet was not referring to those who love God when he said this, how much more is required of us, when we have been given much.

We have children and teenagers at our concerts, and listening to our music.  We have children and teenagers in our personal lives, and are accountable to contributing toward the shaping of their young lives.  Integrity.  A state of being whole and undivided.  This is what we strive for, both as a band, and as individual children of God.

We are up to a lot of exciting things; check out our upcoming events, and see what is happening.  Connect with us via the website, and let us know what you are up to.  Can we pray for you, or with you?  Can we encourage you in some way?  If you are looking for inspiring guests for your youth groups or church events, or community events, let us know.  God is on the move.  Hallelujah!  Until next time, remember to keep God as the shade at your right hand.
